How It Works

How CertifyReviews Verification Works

CertifyReviews is an independent system. We have no financial relationship with the businesses we verify. Here is exactly how the process works.

The verification process, step by step

1

Step 1

A job is completed

A local business completes a job for a customer. The customer’s mobile number is recorded as part of normal business operations.

2

Step 2

A review request is sent

The business sends a personalised SMS to the customer via an authorised CertifyReviews partner platform. The exact time, sender identity, and recipient are cryptographically logged at the moment of sending. CertifyReviews cannot alter this record after the fact.

3

Step 3

The customer independently clicks

The customer receives the SMS and decides whether to respond. No one from the business is present. The customer independently clicks the link on their own device.

4

Step 4

The customer rates their experience

On a neutral holding page, the customer selects a star rating. If they select 4 or 5 stars, they are directed to Google to leave a public review. If they select 1–3 stars, their feedback is sent privately to the business — it never reaches Google.

5

Step 5

A verification token is issued

CertifyReviews issues a unique, tamper-proof token tied to this specific interaction. The token records: the business identity, the date the request was sent, and whether a genuine response was received.

6

Step 6

The certificate becomes publicly verifiable

The business can share the verification link in their Google review replies. Any member of the public can visit certifyreviews.com/verify/[token] to independently confirm the review request was genuine.

What CertifyReviews can and cannot confirm

What we confirm

A genuine review request SMS was sent to a real mobile number

The request was sent via an authorised CertifyReviews partner platform

The customer independently clicked the link on their own device

A response was received (positive or private)

The business identity is confirmed and on record

What we cannot confirm

The content of the Google review itself (written by the customer independently)

Whether the customer was satisfied with the service

The quality of work performed by the business

Any events that occurred after the review request was sent

Why independence matters

CertifyReviews does not write reviews. We do not influence what customers say. We do not delete negative feedback. We cannot alter verification records once issued. Our role is solely to confirm that a genuine review request was sent to a genuine customer , nothing more.

We are funded through platform licensing fees paid by authorised partner platforms , not by individual businesses. This means we have no incentive to certify bad actors or inflate a business's reputation.
